Winter training hurts

Long hours on the bike plus darkness/cold when I get home from work equals lots of time on the rollers/trainer.

I’m starting to feel the effects of a real training schedule.

Yesterday was a definite low for me. I woke up at 5am to get in 2 hours on the rollers; I was still completely thrashed from Monday; my lower back and hips were on fire after an hour and a half. Also on fire? The most enormous saddle sore you have ever seen in your life. I will spare you any further details on that. Let’s just say that the inability to stand up on rollers isn’t helping anything.

I climbed off after 1:40, I just couldn’t take it anymore. By the time 7pm rolled around for strength training, I was just exhausted. Sitting on a bike to warm up was like torture, so I walked/jogged on the treadmill instead for a bit. I did better in class then I thought I would, but I wasn’t my usual peppy self.

It was brought to my attention that I haven’t been posting as regularly as I used to. There’s a few reasons for this. But one main thing.

Remember back in November when I said I wanted to stop obsessing over biking? I actually managed to do this. I haven’t been thinking about it 24/7, so I don’t come up with as many things to write about. Never fear, the obsession is picking back up. However, I have been obsessing over other things. Not healthy or better things, necessarily, but at least I got a mental break from bikes for a while. I’ve actually wanted to write about other things, but I feel like keeping this blog on some sort of topic, rather then just The Complete Ramblings from the Crazy Mind of K.

Consider that a favor. ;)
