Well, I did get out and ride pretty darn hard on Tuesday night. In fact, once we crested Skyline at a vomit-inducing pace, my legs were pretty much completely fried and I had to limp home. Usually I’m not like that, so I figured I must still be achey from that killer race on Sunday. Wednesday I didn’t do a damn thing–I was going to do sprints on my mountain bike after my various doctor’s appointments (See below), but I didn’t get out of there until after 7pm, and I just really didn’t feel like going up to FP in the dark. So I wussed out. This morning I did 5×5’s on my trainer for an hour, which usually are ungodly hard, but I couldn’t seem to get my heart rate about 174 because my legs just felt like lead. Or SOMEthing. I don’t know. Somewhat frustrating.
Back to that doctor appointment…I went to Health & Performance Chiropractic, which just opened its doors last month, specifically catering to athletes. As per usually, I complain about my darn IT Band and various knee issues, as well as a bit of stiffness in the neck/upper back. He went over my IT Band like it was going out of style (owww), and he cracked my neck. I have never been to a chiropractor before, and I was very nervous about it. Still, I thought I’d give it a chance. I won’t lie. It was weird. I wasn’t expecting it the first time “now, exhale….” SNAP! It didn’t hurt…was just weird. After the first one I got so tensed up I thought I would pull a muscle if he did it again, but I didn’t thankfully.
He did manage to loosen up my hips and IT Band awesomely, and I next time I will have my running stride evaluated. At some point he will also be watching my bike form/fit. I’m excited to see what happens, although from my past experiences, it’s hard to get my hopes up too much.
