Today I felt hopefully depressed for no particular reason. That means it’s now winter. The sun just poked it way through the clouds for the last few minutes, and I feel great all of a sudden, although immeasurably frustrated that I didn’t go mountain biking today as planned (due to the torrential downpour). I must go mountain biking ASAP. I miss it. I yearn for it. I’m getting a super powerful trail light soon, so I’ll be able to hit the trails after dark (gulp).
However, it also means a mudfest tomorrow for cross! WHEEE! It’s apparently at a high school in Rainier, OR (huh?), and is supposed to be a great course, whatever that means. From the XC forum: This will not be a flat course, and will have several sustainted climbs, nothing like Hornings though, with a few areas for a little recovery! everyone will love the run-up, at the end of the track! The trails are pretty wide lots of room to pass, I think everyone will love this course!
People always hate the course, no matter what. Either it’s too muddy or not muddy enough, too hilly or not hilly enough, too easy, too technical, too fast, too slow…basically if you do poorly it’s the course’s fault. Sounds good to me!

I woke up to the sound of the rain falling this morning…it was so peaceful.
Then I thought about all the mud it is going to give us tomorrow. wheee!
See you at the race!
