Road Ride – Dairy Creek (55 miles)
Saturday morning I went on the PV ride with the 21s. The Dairy Creek ride is always interesting, as halfway through the ride is a 16-mile out and back, 8 miles up a false flat, 8 miles down. And everyone always races it, and I always get dropped. This time however, it was a different story. As we hit dairy creek, I was feeling like the ride up to then was really slow/easy (even tho it was the requisit 21mph average). I was up towards the front as we hit Dairy Creek…the guy in the front said he was going to up the speed just for a bit…as we quickly hit 24-25, suddenly the pack behind us exploded in front of us…and the race was on! We went from 21 to about 26 up Dairy Creek, and I kept up amazingly, through all the fast breaks. The way back, we were keeping to a sane pace, then I decided what the hell, I lead a charge, settling into my aerobars and just going on all, about 26 or so mph. It was awesome, I kept my lead for a few minutes at least. By the end of the section, the actual average pace on my computer was 21mph, which is really fast. We kept up a great pace the rest of the way, by the end our average was about 20. Whoo hoo!
MTB: Post Canyon
Me and a friend went on one of the Bike Gallery’s women’s MTB rides on Sunday, that was billed as an instructional ride. We went to Hood River to Post Canyon, which is a very different trail. There are man-made obstacles/stunts built into the trail (mostly grouped in a few places). It was CRAZY, these huge like 15 foot drops and stuff…woah. Yeah we didn’t do any of that. We went over basic mountain biking skills, it was really, really helpful. I actually went over some fairly big roots, stuff I usually would balk at. Unfortunately as we started heading down, my friend had a nasty crash and got a concussion(!) so we had to walk down the rest of the way. Thank god for helmets! I think I will be coming back to this trail for sure.

Tris and mountain biking? Fantastic.
I work on the Accelerade.com community site, and I have been searching the blogosphere for women athletes who write well and have a lot of good stories to share with other endurance athletes. You would be a really welcome member on the site and could offer some great posts while networking with the other athletes.
We’ve got a lot of events and experts like Dave Scott on board who can share tips on training and racing. It’s a new site, but it is going to be an amazing community for endurance athletes. I hope you will stop by and share a post or two.
