Track Running

I’m back from a 2 week break; I went for a run yesterday at the track. I haven’t run on a track in like 2 years, it was a bit strange. Nice and squishy. Overall I ran about a mile and a half in quarter/half-mile chunks. I felt really good, really strong, I think having an adequate running warm up REALLY helps. I think my triumphant return to running will require the track. Once I’m up to running 3 miles comfortably on that bad boy, I’ll move on to bigger and better things (ie hills). I see my PT tonight, so I’ll have to confirm with him, but I am finally feeling somewhat optimistic (although still frightened that this pain-free-ness is short term).

I went to another core workout this morning at the Alameda Fitness Center…yow! Crazy, crazy. Lots of hopping and squatting and lunging to the sides. My poor aching hips and hamstrings! I know it’s good for me, in fact I saw someone at the track running the grapevine sideways in the grass, I think that’s something I might want to start doing.

I also did another training ride up Mt Tabor on Monday; 6 laps up the mountain with sprinting. That’s intense! Hopefully I’ll be ready for next Wednesday when the Tabor series starts. And hopefully I won’t puke on anybody. :)
